Imagine if there was a simple, cheap way to support early literacy in the home – so that every child is ready to read when they arrive at school?
There IS a way. It’s the Imagination Library, and it’s been quietly supporting children and families in Australia for 13 years.
Better still, a whole PhD-worth of data has just been published, showing that the program really does give kids a head-start in life.
United Way Australia shared the research findings at this event at Parliament House in Canberra, with the generous support of the Parliamentary Friends of Early Childhood. I had fun MC-ing, and hearing our parliamentary representatives reflect on childhood reading and their favourite books.
